ME 4740 - Materials Selection and Failure Analysis

Credit Hour(s): 3
Engineered components are manufactured with materials designed for a specified life, but may fail in service. Using analytical methods and computer software, procedures for selecting the optimum materials and manufacturing processes under multiple constraints are discussed. Analysis to establish the root cause of failures is addressed through lectures and case studies that relate factors such as design, material, manufacture, and service conditions.
