ME 6530 - Energy Conversion

Fundamentals of energy and energy conversion such as the quantity of energy through the first law of thermodynamics and the quality of energy through the concept of exergy are studied. In addition, our current energy situation, the environment aspects of energy conversion, and the economics of energy conversion are considered. Devices such as electric generators, MHD generators, turbines, thermopiles, combustion chambers based on fossil fuels and biofuels, and nuclear reactors that convert energy from mechanical, thermal, chemical, and nuclear energy to other forms of energy are studied. Department Managed Prerequisite(s): Undergraduate level ME 3310 Minimum Grade of C or Graduate level ME 5310 Minimum Grade of C
