Why Choose Engineering Technology?

Engineering technology focuses on practical application of knowledge rather than theoretical knowledge. The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (B.S.E.T.) offers students a foundation in mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering and technology through an interdisciplinary program.

Careers

This program prepares you for a career in a variety of engineering fields, including for example:

  • Automated manufacturing
  • Quality control
  • Product development and design
  • Software development and design
  • System development and design
  • Field service engineering
  • Systems engineering
  • Process engineering

You’ll also be prepared for project management and business operations environments.

Academics and Curriculum

The B.S.E.T. is a 120-semester hour program designed to prepare students for a variety of careers in the industry. The coursework within the program is comprised of a technical core covering engineering and computer science topics, as well as a focus area in industrial and systems engineering or electrical engineering, for a comprehensive curriculum of modern engineering design skills.

Students choose a specialization in either industrial/systems engineering or electrical engineering, with a focus on real-world applications. The B.S.E.T. includes courses in computing and information technology, business analytics, or a technical elective block (available to transfer students with an earned associate degree in an engineering technology field).

Admission

Review the admission requirements and complete the admission application. Identify your desired major on the application. If you meet university admission requirements you are admitted to the college.

If you are a current student and wish to change majors, submit a Major/Minor Change Request by logging in to WINGS, then select Student Academics under Your Launchpad. If you are an undecided/exploratory student, talk to your advisor about majoring in engineering technology.
