Study Abroad

Wright State engineering students and associate professor pose with workers at a clinic in Malawi.

All College of Engineering and Computer Science and College of Science and Math students are encouraged to apply for the Clinical Engineering in the Developing World service-learning course, taught each summer. Started in 2012 by Dr. Thomas Hangartner, students have traveled to Uganda, Rwanda, and Malawi. Projects in rural medical centers have included installation of solar panels for a reliable energy source; construction of x-ray rooms and installation of and training for low-cost analog and digital x-ray equipment and blood analyzers.
