National Science Foundation S-STEM Scholarship

Beginning Fall 2014, the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Wright State University has awarded scholarships from the National Science Foundation through the S-STEM Scholarship program. This scholarship awards students with outstanding academic accomplishments and great potential for success within the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

This prestigious award is grant funded through the National Science Foundation to help improve graduations of outstanding students in engineering and computer science. Award recipients are chosen from based on several criteria including academics, choice of major, and financial need.

While academic success in high school is considered, this scholarship weights effort in school very highly. Awards are not limited to the highest scoring students, but those that demonstrate a commitment to their educational success and a focus on being an outstanding student through sustained effort, improved performance, and potential for success in engineering and computer science at Wright State.

Letters will be sent to students that meet minimum qualifications for the scholarship, however, those students who feel they have demonstrated the ideals that will make them successful engineers and computer scientists are encouraged to apply. Please submit a one to two page essay explaining your interest in engineering or computer science and why you feel you have demonstrated a focus on success in your life.

Details and requirements for this scholarship:

  • Two year award in the amount of $1,250 to $10,000 annually, half the annual award is given each semester
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA each term (one additional term probation if GPA Falls below a 3.0) to maintain eligibility. Academic eligibility is reviewed each semester.
  • Participate in programs or meetings for S-STEM scholars (meetings will not interrupt class times or significantly take away from time devoted to academics)
