Mission of the Cybersecurity Research and Education Center (CREC)
The Cybersecurity Research and Education Center (CREC) at Wright State University promotes excellence in cybersecurity education, research, and community engagement. Its mission is to prepare the next generation of cybersecurity professionals with the technical expertise, ethical foundation, and innovative mindset needed to safeguard our nation’s digital infrastructure.
CREC supports the department’s cybersecurity programs, including the Master of Science in Cyber Security with a CyberDefense Concentration, a program recognized by the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) (Home | CAE in Cybersecurity Community). The program integrates theory and practice through advanced coursework, hands-on laboratories, and applied research in areas such as network and host security, secure computing, reverse engineering, and emerging fields including AI and quantum security.
Through collaboration with government, industry, and academic partners, CREC fosters workforce development, advances cutting-edge research, and strengthens the cybersecurity ecosystem across the region and beyond.
