What do you like most about the College of Engineering and Computer Science?
Wright State University is a very close-knit community between professors and their students. If you're in an engineering program, you're most likely to become friends with everyone (yes, that includes your professors)! Everyone shares their experiences (whether positive or negative), so you're never alone when it comes to your classes, internships, etc. My advisor was always available to answer my questions and concerns about the program, its curriculum, how to organize and schedule classes in order to graduate on time... you name it, she answered it! One of my professors introduced me to the idea of becoming a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) and after obtaining my Bachelor's in May of 2020, I'm pursuing two Master's in biomedical and electrical engineering while doing what I love: teaching!

What advice do you have for a freshman in the College of Engineering and Computer Science?
Don’t be afraid to go to office hours to get help, but don’t go expecting them to do your assignments for you. Also, get involved; there are so many great opportunities.

What advice do you have for first-year students in the College of Engineering and Computer Science?
While I’ve been heavily involved in my three years, my best advice to incoming students would be to find a good balance between involvement and schoolwork; the faster you’re able to do this the more successful you will be. Wright State has offered me everything that I need to be a successful student now and later on in my career, and I will always be grateful for that.

What advice do you have for first-year students in the College of Engineering & Computer Science?
My advice for CECS freshmen is to stay focused. Set goals for yourself, and have at least one big goal to achieve by graduation. Always be striving to achieve those goals and always be pushing forward. It can be easy to get distracted and fall behind. I recommend setting weekly goals to make sure you're constantly working towards larger goals. You'll be amazed at how much you can get done in one week.
