Top Three Teams ACM Programming Contest Teams at Regionals

Eight students represented Wright State University at the 2017 ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest East Central North American Regional Contest.

Team

WSUA (Jonathan Zentgraf, Kyle Weinle, Noah Taylor) finished in 47th place out of 134 teams. The team correctly solved 3 problems out of 10.
WSUB (Jason Elting, Brian West, Jacob Sims) finished 63d. The team correctly solved 3 problems out of 10.
WSUC (Shehap Saleh, Marc Ayala) finished 126th with 1 correct solution.

The competition was fierce. The top three teams were all from Waterloo, Ontario Canada. They usually lead in our region. Waterloo’s teams were the only teams to solve 9 problems out of 10.  In fact, only 8 teams solved 8 or more out of 10 problems. 7 correct solutions were enough to break into the top ten ranking.

  • Purdue University’s best team finished 11th.
  • Kalamazoo College finished strong at 14th.
  • Miami University’s best team finished 16th.
  • Ohio State University finished 18th.
  • Cedarville’s best team finished 22nd with 5 correct solutions.
  • Ohio University’s best team finished 28th with 4 correct solutions.
  • University of Notre Dame finished right behind WSUA at 48th place
  • The University of Dayton's two teams finished 64th and 125th
